Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh kaunselor Muslim dalam mengamalkan pendekatan kaunseling Islam di sekolah. Seramai 19 orang kaunselor Muslim yang berkhidmat di sekolah menengah di Malaysia telah ditemu bual secara mendalam berkaitan pengalaman mereka mengaplikasikan kaunseling Islam serta halangan yang dihadapi. Data temu bual dianalisis secara tematik dan dua tema utama dihasilkan iaitu cabaran dalaman dan cabaran luaran. Dapatan menunjukkan antara cabaran dalaman yang ketara ialah kekurangan pengetahuan mendalam tentang kaunseling Islam, kurangnya penghayatan agama dalam kalangan kaunselor serta kecenderungan untuk membuat penilaian berdasarkan kerangka agama semata-mata. Manakala bagi cabaran luaran pula, aspek penerimaan pelajar, stigma masyarakat, ketiadaan sistem sokongan serta kekangan masa menjadi halangan kepada keberkesanan pelaksanaan kaunseling Islam di sekolah. Implikasi dapatan kajian terhadap usaha memperkasakan profesionalisme kaunselor Muslim serta memperkukuhkan pelaksanaan kaunseling Islam dalam sistem pendidikan negara turut dibincangkan.
